  2. Martin Luther King Jr. Observance

    January 21, 2018, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM @ Irving Arts Center

    Each January the City of Irving holds a special event to recognize and appreciate the life and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This annual observance takes place at the Irving Arts Center, and features a theatrical performance, followed by a Q&A session with 2 of the original Freedom Riders.

  3. Red Cross Lifeguard Class

    January 25, 2018 - January 28, 2018 @ North Lake Natatorium

    Want to learn skills that will help you save lives? Become a certified lifeguard.

    Prerequisite: Minimum age 15. Successful skills test, which includes 300-yard continuous swim; a 10-pound brick retrieval from 7 to 10 feet depth of water followed by a 20-yard return carrying the brick; and treading water for two minutes without using hands. Test must be completed one week before class or must have instructor approval.

    Successful completion of the course will result in American Red Cross Life Guard/First Aid, CPR-Professional Rescuer, and AED certifications.

  5. Night Hike on Campion Trail

    January 26, 2018, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ Location to be provided upon registration.

    Explore the nighttime world of animals of Campion Trail with native species experts and learn more about the sights, smells and sounds of nature at night. Night hikers are invited to challenge their skills in spotting signs of animal life and sharpening other senses. Learn more about the kinds of animals that call Irving home.

  6. Frost Fest

    January 27, 2018, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Cimarron Park

    Winters in Texas can mean anything from cold rain to black ice, but rarely include the fluffy white snow seen up north. This year, bring the family to Cimarron Park for a taste of the fun side of winter!

    Frost Fest is a free winter festival offering an opportunity to indulge in various cold weather activities. Visit the reindeer at the petting zoo, try skating on the festival rink, play in the snow area and slide down the hill. The entertainment continues with snow dance parties, winter story readings and our own version of the Polar Express train.

    Food vendors will be on-site; parking and admission are free.

  7. Irving's Got Talent Auditions

    Can you sing, dance, juggle or play a musical instrument? Register now to be a part of Irving’s annual teen talent competition. Interested participants must register to audition by Jan. 24. Registration forms are available at Lively Pointe, and online: Auditions will be held in the Ballroom at Heritage Senior Center. For more information, please call (972) 721-8090.
