  1. Home for the Holidays Adoption Event

    December 18, 2018, 10:00 AM - December 22, 2018, 5:00 PM @ Adoption Kennels

    Come to the Irving Animal Care Campus on Dec. 18-22 and adopt a pet for only $15. Help homeless shelter pets find a Home for the Holidays!

    Animals being adopted will be:

    • Up-to-date on vaccinations, including rabies if the animal is more than four months of age.
    • Spayed or neutered.
    • Given a general dewormer and treated for fleas and ticks.
    • Microchipped and registered with 24PetWatch.
    • Heartworm tested (dogs over 6 months of age).
    • FeLV / FIV tested (cats over 6 months of age).
    • Given 30 days of 24PetWatch pet insurance (with a valid email address).
    • Given a sample bag of Science Diet food.

  1. Christmas Holiday - No Trash Pickup / City Offices Closed

    December 25, 2018, All Day @ Various city facilities

    There will be no residential trash, curbside recycling or brush collection Dec. 25. In addition the following facilities will be closed:

    • City Hall
    • The Hunter Ferrell Landfill, libraries and recreation centers
    • The Heritage Senior Center
    • The North Lake Natatorium and Heritage Aquatic Center
    • The Irving Arts Center

  1. Cook the Book: A Cooking Book Club

    Do you love browsing through cookbooks and trying new recipes or cooking techniques? Do you enjoy sampling and sharing new dishes? Then hang onto your spatula! We pick the cookbook; you choose and make a recipe. Then we all partake. You don’t have to be a gourmet chef to participate. Novices will have the chance to learn from more experienced cooks, and the experienced cooks will have a chance to show off and share their amazing skills. Stop by the Valley Ranch Library Reference Desk to register for the book club and pick your recipe.

    The Hunter Ferrell Landfill Scalehouse and Administration Complex opens at 9 a.m. the last Wednesday of each month to accommodate staff training.
